I currently work and live in Texas with my wonderful wife and daughter. As an "IT Professional" for Chevron in downtown Houston, my current role is that of a Scrummaster -- the servant-leader on a team of software developers who employ Agile Scrum as the framework in which they deliver.
Prior to Chevron, I worked five years as the Information Technology Administrator at a small government agency. During this time I earned a Bachelors of Science in Management Information Systems and co-founded a successful internet startup company.
I am also bilingual, having lived two years in France as a missionary. I possess excellent communication and presentational skills, as well as a friendly personality which helps enable me to easily work with customers and peers.
My goal is to pursue a fulfilling career in a team environment in which my talents and skills will be challenged. This will include expanding on both my business and technical skills which will lead to personal growth and satisfaction.
IT Professional - Scrummaster
Chevron Corporation
February 2007 - Present
Working in the fascinating oil and gas industry I have had the pleasure of being
introduced to Agile software development in the Energy Technology Company (ETC) of
the Chevron Corporation.
As an ETC employee working in software development, I am able
to gain domain-specific knowledge pertaining to oil and gas (upstream), in addition
to relevant IT experience in a large corporation.
After several months as the eSearch Product Manager, I transitioned into my current role, which is that of a Scrummaster on a software development team. A Scrummaster serves
the team in a servant-leader capacity by facilitating the software development
process and otherwise doing anything possible to both help the team progress and shield them
from the nuances of external influences.
I greatly enjoy the constant interaction involved in being a Scrummaster. Communication and
soft skills are paramount to success; and thus I strive and continually push myself to
improve upon these in order to better fulfill my role.
Highlights include:
• Formed and was Scrummaster on the Coyotes Scrum team tasked with upkeep and development of our enterprise library;
• Partnered as a Scrum coach/master with the Gulf of Mexico Business Unit;
• Formed and am Scrummaster on the Gators Scrum team tasked service enabling an Real-Time Reservoir Management Solution;
• Authored and delivered an educational talk on Agile Scrum at the annual Sub-Surface Characterization Forum;
• Developed an introductory scrum class that I administer to various groups as they join our organization
Chief Technology Officer / Co-Founder
eefoof inc. / vume.com
2006 - 2007
During the summer of 2006, I co-founded an Internet startup: eefoof.com. The services offered compete
directly with well-known user-driven content sites such as YouTube.com and overlap
with social networking sites like MySpace.com. We differentiate ourselves from
these organizations through our unique business model that provides an unmatched
incentive for user participation: cash.
I have been largely involved in formulating the strategy and direction of the company
and was individually responsible for developing the system from the ground up. Through
extensive user testing and feedback I developed our interactive GUI to fit the needs
of our clients. I also led our initial PR push to coincide with the product launch.
Our launch showed great user acceptance and received positive press from C|Net, The Wall
Street Journal and a TV spot on "NBC: On The Money".
In late 2006 we received a large infusion of venture capital which is being used
to further build our infrastructure and expand our service offering. Having seen
such success in this undertaking, I am looking forward to applying lessons learned in future opportunities.
Information Technology Administrator
Sacramento-Yolo County Mosquito and Vector Control
2001 - 2006
As the head of information technology for vector control my duties varied greatly
from database programming to network management. It was my responsibility to
leverage technology to increase employee productivity for the overall benefit
of the District. To accomplish this I routinely assessed current District systems and
identified problems or areas needing improvement. Once an issue had been identified
it was my job to propose a technology-based solution and present it to the appropriate
persons. Upon approval, I was involved in all aspects of the design, implementation,
and testing of the final solution.
Christian Missionary Service
France
2000 - 2001
As a missionary for two years in France, I was immersed in the language and culture.
Responsibilities consisted of interacting and speaking with French people on a daily basis.
As a benefit from the involved missionary service, I have gained and work to maintain a
fluency in the French language.
