BYU-Hawaii Alumni Luau in Houston

November 15th, 2009 No comments

So, a friend in our church sent me an invitation to a luau.  Hawaiian food that I don’t have to cook?  Of course I am there.  What was even better is that it was a luau for BYU-Hawaii alumni that are now located in Houston.  I purchased tickets for myself, Matt and Kalani since we all LOVE the Hawaiian food and had a wonderful time meeting new people that also attended BYUH.  The evening consisted of a video that was made at BYUH and mailed to us to view, food, dancing, pictures and talking story.  We are looking forward to more get togethers with the alumni to feel of their “aloha spirit” and of course to eat more “ono grindz”

We were a small group, but that just meant more food for us!

Scotland Friends

September 1st, 2009 No comments

Kalani & CalumAs I was reading through a friend’s blog she mentioned that some of the teenagers in Aberdeen, Scotland are featured in the September edition of our church’s magazine for the youth The New Era.  I quickly opened up the link and found photos of some of our former ward/church members in the article.  Calum’s (Kalani’s “boyfriend”) 3 older sisters are pictured and at least one was interviewed for the article.  It is so much fun to see a little bit of our Scottish friends while we are back in the states.

Limary Family Reunion

July 24th, 2009 No comments

It had been 12 years since the last Limary family reunion…although most people went to Las Vegas about 7 years ago for our Aunt Lucy’s wedding.  Aunt Lucy had been planning this reunion for about 2 years and it was a lot of fun and great to see so many family members.  Matt thought that I had a big family before…after our trip to Vegas he realized that there are many more family members that we are related to.  With my mom having 9 children in her family and my dad having 14 children in his family, the cousins, aunts & uncles are just everywhere!

This is most of the people that arrived in Vegas for the reunion.
There were still more family members that weren’t able to attend

My dad’s family.
Only missing 2 people in this photo (Leilani & Jon)

And here are the 4 grandchildren of my parents.  (Kalani, Mason, Kalea, Jaedyn)
They were finally all together…although we woke Kalea up for this photo and she wasn’t happy about that.

Aunt Lucy & Kalani.
Kalani is named after her and was very excited to meet her.  (Lucy’s middle/hawaiian name is Kalani)

When you get a bunch of Hawaiians together you know you are going to eat PLENTY of good food.  A break down of our week in Vegas where it was at least 110′ everyday:

Saturday: fly in & buffet
Sunday: BBQ & swim
Monday: BBQ & swim
Tuesday: BBQ, swim, Adventure Dome
Wednesday: Children’s Museum, buffet & shop
Thursday: BBQ & swim
Friday: BBQ
Saturday: fly home

We never started anything on time, but we “talked story plenty” and had more than enough to eat for the rest of the day.  Kalani got a great tan and Mason was such a good baby for everyone.  Next reunion is scheduled to be in 5 years.  I wonder how big of a group we will get then?

Look-a-Like

From the first time I saw Mason I always said that he looks like his sister Kalani.  Here are some side-by-side photos of our two kiddos.  Can you tell which is which?

Dirty Job

June 26th, 2009 No comments

Mike Rowe should try being a mother if he wants a “Dirty Job!”  Today I was bathing Mason in his tub at the kitchen sink while watching Dirty Jobs on the TV.  Mason must have felt very relaxed and wanted me to have my own dirty job experience.  He let loose and all of a sudden he was in a tub with yellow floating pooh.  I got him out as quickly as I could, and then reached for the camera that was near.

After rinsing out the tub and cleaning Mason off (and allowing him time to take care of all of his bathroom business) he was clean and smelling fresh!  And one reward Mike Rowe won’t get for his dirty job is cuddling with a sweet baby anytime of the day.
