Kalani and I were able to spend a month in California seeing family, friends, shopping and eating at some GOOD restaurants. Matt was able to take 2 weeks off of work to come visit and play in California with the rest of the family. Here is a recap of what we were able to see and do:

Kalani was able to make a candy house for the kindergarten class at her uncle’s grammar school. This is a tradition that my grandmother started with my aunts and uncles. Kalani probably ate more candy than she actually put on the house. She quickly realized that if she dropped candy on the floor then I wouldn’t let her put it on the house and she was free to eat it. She dropped a lot of candy!

Next big event was the marriage of Matt’s brother Adam to Diana. A new in-law in the Farley family. She is a sweet girl who has dark hair, dark eyes, short, and speaks Spanish. I think that we know what these Farley guys like.

Then it was Christmas. We showed our family the End of the Year video where they realized that I was 18 weeks pregnant with a baby boy.

We spent a lot of time visiting with friends. We were able to spend family night with the Davis family where we played games, had dinner and dessert and a wonderful evening.

Next we were off to the airport to pick up Makana and her daughter. I was finally able to see and hold one of my nieces. Kalani was very happy to meet her new cousin and to hold her. I was able to keep the secret that Lei, Robbie and Makana were coming to California for Christmas and/or New Year. I was pretty sneaky!

Matt and I celebrated our anniversary on airplanes. However Matt was heading back to Scotland for work and I was heading off to an Eastern Caribbean cruise with my mother-in-law and sisters-in-law. We had a wonderful week of being pampered; other people cleaning up after us and making our meals. It was OUR cruise! I LOVED the time that I was able to spend with the Fabulous Farley women to just relax and enjoy each others company. I am one lucky girl to have married into such a wonderful family.

For those who do not yet know…we are having a baby boy at the end of May! We didn’t really tell anyone until Christmas via our end of the year video. Kalani didn’t know until Christmas day and now she tells everyone. She hugs and kisses my tummy and tells me that she is hugging and kissing her brother. Although she wanted 3 sisters AND THEN 4 brothers I think that she is very excited to have a sibling…even if it is a boy. She is still pretty set in her mind that she will have those 7 younger siblings…I am just going to take it one birth at a time and will not make any predictions.

For family night tonight we signed up to help out with the “Santa Float.” Every year our ward helps to raise money for a charity organization Cash for Kids. In the 35′ F weather, there were about 15 of us that showed up to help out tonight…our ward will be doing this service for a week. We had some difficulties with the generator getting the lights and music to stay on, but still we were able to raise around 155 pounds. What was amazing is that everyone that opened the door donated money…not at all the experience that Matt and I had on our mission where people said no. Maybe it had a little bit to do to the fact that it is Christmas time, or the fact that we have a very cute daughter who wished everyone a Merry Christmas and is just super friendly to strangers.

For the last few couple of months Kalani has really liked watching Donny Osmond in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.” She now will watch it at least once a week…sometimes a few times a week. I really don’t mind since it is a Bible story and a musical. The only thing that has me a little worried is that she likes to watch the scene with Potipher’s wife. I try to fast forward that, but she likes the girls wearing pink! Although today she fast forward through that part. What is really cute is that she tries to act out the scenes. Maybe she will be a dancer or an actress. And maybe Makana and McKay can help Kalani out with meeting Donny Osmond…Donny’s son is now their brother-in-law.
And hopefully I can persuade Kalani to explore the other wonderful musicals that I love.

Well, Kalani was finally able to talk in church with a microphone today. (she has snuck into the chapel before and used the microphone, but this time it was okay) Yes, the annual children’s primary program was today and she did a wonderful job. She had 2 speaking parts that she quickly memorized. And then she was asked to say another part since a little boy in her class wouldn’t do his part. And to top it all off she and her “best friend in Scotland” sang a duet of “I’m a Child of God.” (yes this is an old photo, but they were both dressed like this for the program…I forgot to take a photo before church)
The primary (all kids ages 3-12) here in Scotland is very small…like 15 kids total. I didn’t think Kalani was that important, but they postponed the program for a month since we were going to be in Sweden! Before she was even born she was responsible for changing the date of a relief society (church women’s organization) meeting. (since my mother-in-law was the president at the time and my father was also helping with the organization, it was approved to move the date of the meeting…all on the account of Kalani!)
